My World

About Me

Who doesn't love a list?   Anyone who knows me knows that I love to make lists. So why not introduce myself by making a list of 12 things you probably did not know about me.

1.      My family

We are a family of females.  I have 3 adult daughters and I have two granddaughters.   Karli   is 6 years old and my other granddaughter will come into the world on December 5.   I love my family.  We have lots of fun together. We are truly a family of laughter.  I’m blessed in the fact that everyone is less than an hour away from me.

      2.       Zoe
Zoe is just as much a part of the family as my girls!  She is a three year old Rottie who we rescued.  I named her after my favorite basketball player, Alonzo Mourning, who played for the Miami Heat.  She was in pretty bad shape when we first got her.  She was hurt, sick, hungry, and had just given birth to a litter of pups.  All of that translated into a very angry dog.  The vet would not see her without a dose of Acepromazine!  She’s as healthy as a horse now!  The vet couldn’t believe how much she had changed in the first year we had her.

Gotta love Zoe!

     3.       Making Lists
Of course this was going to be on the list.  It makes me happy to see a brand new journal ready for me to write in.  I shop for planners and journals like people shop for cars!!  It’s serious business!  I have to make sure it will have the categories I need and the space to jot down my ideas.  I even created a Book of Lists one year in a notebook that was given to me as a gift.  I even take the time to put stickers throughout the list.  I spend way to much time creating the list but it’s like therapy to me!  Please don’t ask me how much stuff gets crossed off the list.

1     4.       Fall
I love all things Autumn!  The colors are my favorite.  Did you notice the colors in the blog??  The weather is absolutely perfect, especially in the south.  It’s still a little warm, but you get a gentle breeze that makes the leaves fall even faster.  I’m a fan of summer as well (remember, I am a teacher) but there is something about fall.  It’s cozy and I just want to start making hot apple cider or hot chocolate.  People are excited about football and even though I don’t know much about it, I still like to be around that energy.  My favorite treat of all comes around in the fall…CANDY CORN!!  I LOVE the stuff!  I’m sure there has to be a memory associated with it but I don’t know what it could be!!

Love the season!

 5.      Not very handy
I would like to think that I am, but I’m not.  I can take something apart very well.  Not the best at putting it back together.  My dad will tell you about my try at fixing the vacuum cleaner when I was younger.  However, that doesn’t stop me from trying.  Pinterest can be a bad thing for people like me.  I’ve had A LOT of Pinterest Fails.  I’ve had a few successes…not many :)

1    6.          Flowers and Plants
I love being surrounded by flowers and plants.  I don’t think there is a thing as too many.  I would love to have fresh flowers every week and maybe one day I will.  I love yellow roses, yellow lantana, Gerber daisies, Black-Eyed Susan…just about any yellow flower.  I have plants in my class and my house.  I’m always looking to get more.  Did I say you can never have too many???

   7.           Kindle books

I am an avid reader and I was soooo against electronic books when they first came on the scene.  I thought that they could never replace the feel of getting a brand new book and being able to write in the margins or highlight important parts.  I still don’t think it does, but the affordability of e-books has helped me make the transition.

The best place to read a book.

1.    8.     Change
I truly embrace change.  I believe it is the one unstoppable force that causes us to grow whether we want to or not.  I don’t like things to stay the same too long.  I’m constantly changing the furniture around in my house.  I think that if I’m changing I’m reaching my true destiny.

    9.         Professional student
School has always been fun to me.  Reason #483 as to why I became a teacher.  There is always something to learn.  I’m curious about so many things.  There just isn’t enough time in the day to feed my curiosity about certain topics.  I’m sure this why I love reading.  Too bad I can’t get paid to go to school.

    10.     Humor in everything
I love to laugh!  I don’t understand people who don’t.  It truly is medicine for the soul.  I try to find humor in everything, good or bad.  I know that things will definitely change and all things work together for my good.  So, in the meantime, I laugh.

So, that’s 10 things you didn’t know (or maybe you did) about me!
